Still unsure if I'll have the time and tools to do this, but I liked the first Darksiders game so much, I feel I can't pass this up. :P Here are some very rough sketches of possible "Maker" axe ideas. More to come!

Fun with Mudbox!!

Been learning Mudbox for work, here is one of my first practice pieces. Just getting a feel for the sculpting tools and how to bake out maps to PS. This tree was modeled right off of a default Mudbox Cube. So far, I'm loving this program!

Wedding Picture!

My mother in law requested I make this image of my beautiful wife and I's wedding day. I used some of our wedding pictures as reference and did my best to illustrate every detail of our attire. The location and time of day are also accurate for when we had our pictures taken...and yes, even the rainbow was there. ...hi poppa in law! :)

Back in college I had a friend who would ask me to draw "penis monsters" in class fairly regularly, although an odd request, it always made for a lot of laughs and sometimes, very cool looking monsters. So Emily if you see this....you're welcome! :P

Invader Zim

Another lost and found sketch! I drew this back in my Full Sail days when I would play re-runs of Invader Zim while I worked. It was drawn in ink on white printer paper, I just recently added the digital color.

This is a VERY old sketch from back before college. I don't know why the dragon is so mad at the church, but I'm assuming it has its reasons. :P Just found this in a folder full of old scans and I thought it was worth doing a quick Photoshop job on and posting...buried treasure sort of thing.

BIRDS!! I was over at my parents place awhile back and did some sketches of their chickens. When I returned home, I added the other birds. So many different kinds, I might do a bird study again down the road.

Medium: pencil with digital paint

Been working on some sketches lately, trying to break away from the standard "girls and guns" that I normally do. I thought I would start out with some animals, and reptiles being some of my personal favorite members of the animal kingdom...I figured this was a good place to start. Another part of this exorcise was to use photo reference but still keep that "character" that most comic illustrations have. A very fun exorcise, there will be more of these to come!

This concept was created back in collage but I found it in an old sketch book recently and decided it was good enough for a Photoshop face-lift.

Originally I drew this for an art contest for a "space bounty hunter" concept, however at the last minute I decided not to enter. At least now I can feel like it didn't go to waste as now it's getting a chance to finely be seen. :)

Comic Art Practice

This was actually something I started back in 2008, but neglected to color. Every once in awhile I get the itch to just do something very "comic book", this piece came from one of those days. The ninja character is from another illustration I did a year before that I later made a 3D model of. I started with him, and thought, "he should be on a team of special forces type super heroes!!" I very quickly came up with three supporting characters. The character with the crazy eye is the sniper dude, the emo girl is an bothered android and the girl with the lighting suite....is....ah cool!! So yeah, that's about as far as my story went. :P But regardless of my lack of creativity in creating this foursome's storyline, it was a fun image to create.

So here it is finely years later with color...

Preparations Continue...

So a lot changed in the short time since my first post. For starters, Jessica and I have picked our wedding date and have been frantically (and I mean that in the most fun way possible) trying to lock in all the many things that are needed for a wedding. We know that it will be small and on the beach, but much is still in the air. About two weeks after the decision and starting preparations, I began to get some pain and found out that I needed to have some fairly major dental work done and fast. How quickly things can get complicated! So today is Monday, and I had my surgery this morning and already I am up and about and putting my thoughts back to my art projects and helping my wife to be with our wedding plans. I will be very happy when this pain subsides and I can be back to 100%, but in the mean time, I must still continue to be the Dan.

After a couple years of considering starting a blog, I have finely done it! I will now blog my projects and weekly escapades!!

I am currently in the process of doing the biggest makeover I have ever done on my website and will be linking this blog to it as soon as that's all ready to roll. I just decided to go ahead and get a blog started because Jessica (my fiance) has been motivating me and is currently way ahead of me on all these fun internet gadgets. :P

So for anyone reading this, thank you and I hope you come back again in the near future.
